The Colt Track program would like to congratulate Julia Frederick and Ryan Smith for being named first team All-Country by the Sun-Sentinal and the Broward Track Officials Association. Julia was undefeated within Broward County, led the county honor roll, and captured BCAA, district and regional titles in the high jump. She closed out the season with a 6th place finish at the State Meet. Ryan also led the county honor roll, along with winning district regional titles in the 200 meters. He then closed out his high school career with a 7th place finish in the State Meet.
The 2010 seasonwas another extremely successful one for the Colts Track and Field program. The girl's squad finished with a 13-2 season record, which include winning the City Championships for the ninth time in the last ten seasons. Moving into the post season, the squad qualified 16 athletes for the BCAA Championships, which are held at CSHS, finishing seventh in the team standings. The youthful squad then captured the district championship, their seventh title in the last ten years. Qualifying 16 athletes to the Regional meet, the girls finished in the top 12 and sent high jumper Julia Frederick to the State Meet in Winter Park, where she finished 6th to earn a spot on the medal awards.
The boy's squad had equal if not more success. Their 14-1 regular season also include a win at the City Championships. They sent 15 athletes to the BCAA CHampionships and finished third in the team standings. Opening the State Series with their best meet of the season, the squad captured the District Championships, completing a sweep of the team titles for the program. Qualifying 15 athletes to the regional meet, they finished 7th in the team standings and sent 6 athletes to the State Meet. Dario Delices, Eric Irigoyen, Jarmal Jones, Demornie Lodge, and Ryan Smith. combined to capture medals in the 4x100 relay and 200 meters.
The Colt track program will look to continue its great run during the 2011 season. The sweep of the team titles this year at the City Championships and District Championships can be the springboard to our most successful season ever. We hope to have many new members next year and invite all at CSHS to try out for the 2011 squad.
