2009 was another outstanding Cross Country season for one of Coral Spring High's most successful athletic programs.
The women's team continued a string of impressive seasons, closing with a 34-4 dual meet record.
Moving onto the State Series, the squad had excellent performances at the district and regional meets.
Seniors Samantha Shreffler and Candice Patrick qualified individually to their fourth consecutive State Meet, where they had outstanding races.
Also having superb seasons were Gabby D'Angelo, Myldha Verdelus, Brianna Pollock, Julia Frederick, and Chelsea Hamilton.
The men's team had a wonderful regular season, also closing with a 34-4 dual meet record and had an outstanding 2nd place finish in the BCAA Championships. The squad entered the State Series and after a fine effort in one of the state's toughest districts, advanced to the Regional meet. A great team effort that day allowed the sqaud to qualify to the State Meet for the second consecutive season, where another great effort led to a 21st place finish. Having excellent seasons were seniors Grant Maller and Bello Charlotin, along with Martin Felix, Kervans Joseph, Oscar Benitez, Djego Clement, and Ricky Murguia.
Both squads will look to continue the "tradition of excellence" in 2010. If anyone wishes to become a new member of this outstanding group of young men and women please contact me. You may also call the school at (754) 322-0500 and leave a message.
Everyone is invited; no experience is needed!

Our program has evolved into one of the premier programs in not just Broward County, but in the entire state of Florida. No school in the county has won as many combined County Championships as the Colts, nor does any have as long a consecutive appearance streak in the State Meet as the girls' team does. Year after year, the teams are invited to compete in major invitational meets throughout the state. The program has the highest winning percentage of all-time at Coral Springs High and continually has a team GPA among the best in the school. This has occurred because of the outstanding young men and women that become part of the program and the wonderful support given by the parents of those athletes and the school administration.
Everyone is invited to give Cross Country a try. There have been many times that students have decided in their senior year to come out for the team. When the season was over, they all said the same thing: "I really enjoy Cross Country and wish that I had come out soon." Don't make the same mistake! Come out for the Colt Cross Country teams today!
